Terms of service
Plain-English terms for using CarSeatFit. The short version: we compute a fit from public data; we don't certify any seat or install; if you buy through an Amazon link we may earn a commission, and always test-fit before you rely on anything here.
A. What this is — information, not a safety certification
CarSeatFit computes and summarizes public car-seat data. It is informational only. It is NOT a safety certification, a crash-test rating, an installation inspection, or medical or professional advice, and nothing here creates a professional relationship. We do not test, certify, or guarantee any car seat or any installation. A seat we list as "fitting" your child or your vehicle is a computed starting point based on published numbers — the labels on your specific seat, your vehicle owner's manual, and a hands-on test-fit are the final authority. For a free hands-on check, visit a NHTSA-listed car-seat inspection station.
B. Affiliate disclosure (Amazon Associates)
CarSeatFit participates in the Amazon Associates Program. The "Check price on Amazon" links are affiliate links: if you buy through one, we may earn a commission, paid by Amazon at no extra cost to you. That commission never changes which seats we recommend or how we rank them — ranking is driven solely by computed fit and NHTSA Ease-of-Use ratings. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. This disclosure also appears next to every affiliate link (FTC).
C. Ratings & dimensions — sourced, with their limits
Car-seat ratings, modes, weight/height limits, and recall counts are reproduced from NHTSA's public API and stamped with the date we pulled them; they can be amended at any time. External seat widths are manufacturer specifications; vehicle rear-bench widths are compiled from manufacturer dimensions and owner measurements and are approximate, varying by trim and model year. Three-across feasibility in particular is decided by fractions of an inch — never rely on our computation without a physical test-fit.
1. What this is — and is not
CarSeatFit (carseatmatch.com) sells free computed car-seat fit pages and recommendations. Everything we publish or sell is an informational product: a faithful reproduction and plain-English summary of public records. It is not a safety certification, a substitute for the seat or vehicle owner manuals, professional, medical, or installation advice, or affiliated with or endorsed by NHTSA or any manufacturer, and buying or reading it does not create a professional–client relationship of any kind. Car-seat ratings and limits come from NHTSA and can change; seat widths and vehicle rear-seat dimensions are manufacturer specs and owner measurements and are approximate. A computed fit is a starting point, never a guarantee.
2. Where the data comes from
Every figure we publish is derived entirely from cited public records: NHTSA's childSeats car-seat ratings API, NHTSA's car-seat stage guidance, and manufacturer-published seat and vehicle dimensions. Each page and report names its source, links the underlying official record where one exists, and stamps the vintage of the data it was generated from. If you need to verify anything we say, the citation trail is the way to do it — and we encourage it.
3. No warranty
Source records can be wrong, late, amended, or missing; we reproduce and interpret them faithfully, but we provide the service "as is", without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. The absence of a record is never proof that an event did not happen, and the presence of one is not proof of its effect on any particular property.
4. Limitation of liability
Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the site or a purchased product is capped at the amount you paid us for that product. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including denied claims, lost disputes, or decisions made in reliance on the data.
5. Your use is yours
What you do with the output — filings, insurance disputes, purchase decisions, negotiations — is your decision and your responsibility, and you agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of it. If a matter is significant, have the underlying records reviewed by a qualified professional.
6. Refunds
If a purchased report isn't useful to you, reply to your delivery email within 14 days and we'll refund it — no forms, no argument.
7. Corrections
Where pages reference real businesses, people, or properties, every fact is attributed to the official record it came from, with its date. If something is wrong, reply to any email we have sent you, or use the contact listed in the site footer and we will correct or remove it promptly.
